Timeline & deadlines

The headline date has passed — the EAA applies now. These are the milestones that frame your obligations and the transitional relief that may apply.

1. 17 April 2019

   Directive (EU) 2019/882 (the European Accessibility Act) adopted.

2. 28 June 2022

   Deadline for Member States to transpose the EAA into national law.

3. 28 June 2025

   The EAA applies. Covered products placed on the market and covered services provided from this date must meet the accessibility requirements.

4. 28 June 2030

   Service providers may continue using products lawfully used before 28 June 2025 until this date (transitional).

5. Up to 20 years

   Self-service terminals lawfully in use before 28 June 2025 may continue to be used until the end of their economic life, capped at 20 years.

6. ~October 2026(watch)
